There's something wrong with the language of working on yourself - and language is important, it makes the concepts we function in, the thoughts in our heads, the bases from which we act. Who is working on who? What needs improving? Are we machines?
Could you work on a flower?
Any kind of compulsive tendency for self-improvement is destined to make dissatisfaction worse.
And there's a lot of it about.
It's quite natural, though, to yearn to be living a life that feels more meaningful, joyful, carry less tension, be more up for the challenges and pains that come along. This doesn't necessarily mean you want to undergo therapy, or coaching. Sometimes you can follow the voice of your intuition and do what you, specifically, need to do, to feel in the flow.
Sometimes it's not so easy to hear that voice, and you need a helping hand to start to live in the way you sense is possible.
After many years as a therapist, while studying and practicing Buddhism, Taoism, Reiki, Focusing and all kinds of forms of writing and art, I've come to some conclusions about what might help to kickstart a more joyful life, without any sense of having to 'work on yourself'.
I call it Creative Regeneration. It leads you through a gentle form of meditation, then focusing, to get a sense of what's happening in your body, free writing (not journaling, not work!) and intuitive painting (likewise). It's a month-long digital course, with company should you want it (in a private facebook group), and a one to one session with me. No self-improvement, I promise.
The Creative Regeneration course runs every few months or so, it's next leaving the station on March 11th, and there are a few places left.
